Buddhism has a long and storied history in Thailand, where the predominant religion is Theravada Buddhism, or Southern Transmission. Great Buddha Monastery contributes to this rich culture by bringing the mind-teaching of Chan from Mahayana Buddhism, or Northern Transmission, into Thailand.

Great Buddha Monastery is currently located next to Rama IX Hospital in Bangkok. The monastery includes a meditation hall, lecture hall, and library, etc. The Great Majesty Hall is pure and solemn, offering a place for the public to practice meditation, study Buddhism, and purify their minds.

Great Buddha Monastery regularly offers daytime and evening meditation classes, chanting classes, and free courses in Thai and Chinese. The goal of these classes is to integrate Buddhism into daily life, and to calm, purify, and illuminate our minds through meditation. Through guided practice, everyone can understand their true nature and discover life's true meaning.
