"Charitable giving is the sustenance and source of wisdom."
To practice Buddhism means to cultivate both merits and wisdom, benefiting self and others to realize the bodhi mind.
Great Buddha Monastery is a merit field for the local community and all sentient beings. By offering alms with pure intentions, one gains freedom from afflictions and greed, and slowly purifies their mind. In this way, offering alms to the Three Jewels generates infinite merit and wholesome Dharma affinity.
Offering Lamps Before the Buddha
Cultivators at Great Buddha Monastery can offer year-long lamps, New Years blessing lamps during the Lunar New Year, or Medicine Buddha lamps during the summer sangha retreat. Lamp offerings are made in hopes that Buddhas light will bring familial harmony, greater wisdom and blessings, good health, social harmony, favorable weather, national prosperity, and world peace.
Dharma Ceremony Offerings
All wholesome deeds stem from the pure mind. Ancestral tablets are dedicated during ceremonies to convey sincere blessings to family, relatives, all beings, or even oneself. By making offerings to the Three Jewels, this merit is dedicated to the living and the deceased, in hopes that they may be free from difficulties and enjoy happiness, that the deceased may traverse a virtuous path and attain true liberation.
If you wish to register tablets or require more information, please contact Great Buddha Monastery.
